Project Overview
Project Details: The University of Rhode Island (URI) worked with Vision III Architects to update one of their older halls, Butterfield. The expansion project included adding an additional 7,500 square feet of building onto the existing dining hall. The addition allows for an additional 200 students to dine and meet in the space. All work needed to be completed while students weren’t on campus which made the timeline for the project extremely tight. In addition, adding interest to the large rectangular space became a focus of the design of the project.
Project Products: Strategic transitions between the flooring products used including Daltile ceramic and porcelain tiles. Some of the porcelain tiles were furnished and installed inside, as well as outside of the building. Tandus carpeting was installed at the seating and gathering areas. Mats Inc walk off matting is used in every entryway and throughout the kitchen area.
