Project Overview
Project Details: Providence College (PC) constructed a new 63,000 square foot facility to house their Western Civilization studies classes that reflected the quality of the faculty and the programs PC has to offer. They also wanted the design of the space to invite collaboration with students and be able to have multiple usages for functions for students and faculty to use.
Project Products: Vendor partners used were Bentley Carpeting, Roppe, Altro, Johnsonite, Mapei and Mannington. The Bentley Carpeting accentuate the Gothic theme of the building while still inviting students to read, collaborate, and study in the Great Room, and all adjoining lecture and classrooms. The 240 steps in the stairways were trimmed with Roppe rubber stair treads and matching rubber tile. All products used for the project were smart sustainable products. All flooring products, setting materials and adhesives used were USGB approved products with low emitting gases. Bentley Oscar-worthy carpeting contributed heavily to achieving the LEED certification. The carpeting consisted of about 4,000 yards of 12.07% post consumer and .76% pre-consumer recycled content. All the carpeting was CRI green label with NSF-140 approval. The Marmoleum sheet flooring used in rooms provided 41.7% pre-consumer materials with 89.5% bio-based content. The Center is certified as a Silver LEED Building by the United States Green Building Council.
